Orvieto, the beauty of an ancient city

Orvieto, a city with over three thousand years of history, never ceases to amaze: this is also due to its underground hiding another city, one underlying the “visible” one. Sightseeing opportunities not to be missed are the remains of the Rocca dell’Albornoz, which stands right in the highest part of the city, with a wonderful view of the Orvieto Valley; the Well of Saint Patrick, which can be visited descending along a spiral staircase plunging to a depth of about 50 meters. One can also admire the remains of the ancient Etruscan Temple of Belvedere and the wonderful Cathedral of Orvieto, a jewel of Gothic architecture.
